I’m Dez – singer-songwriter with Australian kindie band Fabulous Lemon Drops and a primary school music teacher in Brisbane.
I started this blog in 2013 after my own band was turned away by a major media outlet because we weren't 'famous enough'. Rather than accept that children's artists would always struggle to be seen, I decided to create the kind of platform I wished had existed.
My mission is simple: to champion outstanding children's music and books, celebrate the artists who create them, and help elevate a genre that is too often overlooked simply because it's made for young audiences. I believe children's entertainment can be every bit as creative, moving and artistically ambitious as anything made for adults.
I'm also passionate about helping define and promote Famwave – music created for children that genuinely connects with listeners of all ages. Or, as I like to describe it, intelligent songwriting that speaks to children without excluding everyone else.
Whether I'm reviewing a debut release or the latest work from an established artist, my goal remains the same: to celebrate creativity, encourage excellence, and help more people discover the remarkable world of children's music and literature.
